First and foremost, Carver Shivers is a Portrait Artist.
Carver started painting at an early age, being taught by his father, Clarence Shivers; a Tuskegee Airman and renowned Artist.
After attending the U.S. Air Force Academy and serving as a Pilot in the USAF, Carver continued to hone his skills as an artist while working as an aerospace engineer for NASA at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, where he currently lives. Carver and his wife of more than 35 years have 2 wonderful sons who have put serving Jehovah God FIRST into their lives.
Carver concentrates on Formal Portraiture. As an Artist, Carver works to capture the unique qualities of his subjects. . .

Carver is an active member of the OIL PAINTERS OF AMERICA (OPA) and THE PORTRAIT SOCIETY OF AMERICA (PSA). As a photographer, Carver earned his CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER DEGREE (CPP) and his CRAFTSMAN PHOTOGRAPHER DEGREE(Cr. Photog) from the Professiona Photographers of America (PPA); a member of an elite group of photographers numbering less than 2,800 in the world. He is also an active member ofthe American Society of Photographers (ASP),and is Past President AND FELLOW of the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston (PPGH).
An avid proponent of Chiaroscuro, Carver explores the evocative beauty of light playing over the human figure. Carver has always been inspired by Master Photographers such as George Hurrell, Phillip Stewart Charis, and Painters such as William Bouguereau, Philip A. De Laszlo, Anders Zorn, John Singer Sargent, and David Leffel.
Carver's belief that "The Portrait is the ultimate visual expression of Human Dignity and Grace" is what drives him to always work to create that Unique Perfect Portrait for his clients...
